Colorado and China

Lunch at 12,000 Ft
Traveled to Colorado with Juanita, Jennie and Sarah. Had a nice stay in Estes Park and visited the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a bitter sweet time as we would be leaving Sarah behind to begin her trip and stay in China. We enjoyed the time together and took a few thousand photos to remember it by. Photos are great, but don't make up for the real presence.

Still, it is a parental responsibility to, having done all you can to prepare them, let your children go attack the goal Father has set in their hearts. Now we have these fantastic technical instruments which let us communicate by video over the Internet. How fortunate as I think of others who, even like myself when I left home for foreign lands for a year or two at a time, had to rely on "snail mail", and even then, my letters were traveling by air and could be read within a couple of weeks of having been written. How different than just a few years before that, when all overseas mail travelled "on a slow boat to China".   I also wonder now how my parents felt when I left for SE Asia some 44 years ago. I learned later that my Dad had very closely followed the local news about what was going on where I was. He never let on about any concerns he had. To follow this rabbit trail, he had also gone off to foreign lands in the mid 1940's. Even less able to communicate back home. Well, it is all so much easier to keep in touch now, and the task is by degrees, by generation, less fraught with peril. Dad and I were taking war, Sarah is taking Peace. How much better and nobler the task!  I am proud of my daughter as she does the work Father has put on her heart.
